Keywords, what exactly are they and when and where are they used in your website?

Keywords are generally defined as the words and phrases that people enter into search engines when they are looking to find something.

If you were searching for us on Google or Bing, you may be looking for an individual or business that offers the same or similar services to what we offer. So, you would open up Google and you may type one the following-

You'll notice that keywords don't mean just one word, keywords can be called short or long tail which is kind of self-explanatory if you just think about it. So, Web Designer is short and Best Website Designer in Peterborough would be long.
So how does this work when you are building your website or trying to promote your Website to customers?
