What do you think of when you hear the word cookies? Something that looks a bit like this picture right?

Well, the kind of cookies we work with at Signpost Media are the type that are linked to GDPR, short for 'General Data Protection Regulations'. When we build a new website for our clients, we add both a Privacy Policy and a warning about the use of cookies on their website. It's something that every website should have, and since the GDPR Act came into force on May 25th 2018 it is now compulsory. But worryingly, despite the fact that a Business can be fined up to 20 million Euros, many websites to not have them.

At Signpost Media in Cambridgeshire, we help many clients not only to ensure that they are displaying easy links to their Privacy policy's on their websites, but also to ensure that the contents of those policy's adhere to the GDPR Act of 2018. As a part of this Act, The Cookie Law is a piece of privacy legislation that requires websites to get consent from visitors to store or retrieve any information on a computer, smartphone or tablet. It was designed to protect online privacy, by making consumers aware of how information about them is collected and used online, and to give them a choice to allow it or not.

If you are worried that you may not be in compliance with the GDPR, or would like further guidance from Signpost Media about any of your Business' online tools, please don't hesitate to contact us to chat further.

In the meantime - stay safe and get online!
